I have been involved at the intersection of education and technology for over 15 years starting with a gap year in an educational consultancy in 2000 followed by work in subsequent years, after University as a web designer, before moving back into the higher education arena in 2007 as a Learning Technologist.
I enjoy the creative combination of pedagogical, theoretical understanding and technical skills. I've been involved in running distance-learning Masters for 8 years as well as working to enable staff and student digital literacy. I've presented often at international conferences such as NET and at ALT-C.
Previously I have worked at the University of Leeds, leading staff networks, running bespoke staff training, contributing to institutional policy and practice around lecture capture, e-assessment, and new technologies, promoting Adobe Connect and Articulate solutions and contributing to digital literacy modules as well as building web platforms on WordPress.
I also worked in the School of Nursing and Midwifery, University of Sheffield for 5 years, developing a range of initiatives around online learning, creating resources, staff development, websites and marketing.
Overall I strive and enjoy creating and advising on pedagogically sound educational experiences for students and staff.
